9 If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater; for this is the witness of God which He has testified of His Son. 10 He who believes in the Son of God has the witness in himself; he who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed the testimony that God has given of His Son. 11 And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. 12 He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. 13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.
1 John 5:9-13
I was so excited by our Sunday school lesson yesterday that I wanted to share some of it with you today! So many of us are seeking out ways to enhance our physical lives, extend our lives, and even live our lives. We find ourselves spending thousands of dollars on products yearly to not be satisfied at the end of the day. How do I know we aren’t satisfied? Well, we keep spending, we keep wanting and feeling that we need more, the chase for physical satisfaction never stops. We work hard just so we can get more of the stuff that makes us feel like we are living.
We work to find life when Salvation is free and already ours! The gift was paid for by Christ at a hefty price so we
wouldn’t have to spend thousands to obtain what He has freely given to those who believe! God tells us in the Scripture that He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life (v12).
We are chasing after life when life already dwells within us. Not just any kind of life but eternal life! When we accept Jesus Christ as our Savior we are saying:
1) We believe in who He is
2) We want to enter into a trusting relationship with Him that frees us from sin
3) When we accept Him the Spirit of God now dwells within us (v10)
We have eternal life in His Son and the greatest thing is, well again it’s free…but the thing that’s even greater than that is…we don’t have to physically die to experience eternal life. It begins when we decide to truly live (believe in Christ and accept that trusting relationship). We have the Spirit of an eternal God living in us! In spite of our us-ness He chose for it to be this way. In spite of our us-ness He chose to love us in such a way that every moment we breathe His Spirit can and will provide peace, strength, joy, understanding in the midst of anything we are going through!
Now don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with being healthy, wanting to look nice, etc. but life is found in God! Not in products, people, places, promises made to you by these companies…IN GOD! At some point, no matter how often you exercise, healthy you eat, awesome you dress, laid your hair is, we will all physically die. Are you spiritually prepared for that day? Are you spiritually prepared for even living in your today? It’s time to live! Receive Christ in full today and begin living the benefits of eternal life right now!
You are already alive! There is no need to find life in anything except God on today! Let everything else be a non-stressful addition. It’s what’s on the inside of you that will pour out and attract everything that’s meant for you anyways!
Have a blessed day!
