But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.
1 Peter 5:10 NKJV
Heartbreak, extreme debt, financial issues, loss of a loved one, loss period, bad health diagnoses, bodily harm, assaults, abuse are just a few of the things that happen in our lives that cause us to feel as though we are suffering. Pain, aching, excruciating moments whether mentally, spiritually, physically, or all three make it easy to look up and say, “God, why me? Why us? Why?”
While I believe that God doesn’t plan to harm us I do believe that He always has a plan to bring us back to a desired calm (Jeremiah 29:11). Whether it’s life’s choices (of self or others) that have brought you to this place of suffering or life challenges that you can’t explain, God has made us a promise…That after we suffer a little while He will perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle us. We serve a God that can take anything and flip it so it works for the good of all. The word says, And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28 NKJV
You child of God are purposed, God knows you love Him, and He will turn this suffering into something that will
save many alive (Genesis 50:20). This storm of suffering (whatever that looks like for you individually and not compared to others) will produce in you a strong foundation built in God for God so that as you navigate to the next level on your journey, you are strong and sturdy enough to handle the weight of both the trials and blessings to come.
So just think, the longer you withstand this, the bigger/greater your foundation, the more settled your foundation, the more established your foundation will be! This means you’ll be fit to carry what is waiting for you in your tomorrow. This season of suffering will lead you to have greater influence, an even more powerful testimony, and a greater anointing God will use to draw others to Him!
If you cast your cares on God He will give you a peace that will assist you in making it through this season (1Peter 5:7; Philippians 4:6-7). When you find this peace, you’ll also find the escape route that will assist you in being able to bear/cope/deal with what you are going through (I Corinthians 10:13 NKJV). God is faithful! Trust Him even in this and remember the promise…After a little while…
There’s purpose in your pain! Let Him pull it out of you! Don’t give up! Get in prayer, cast your cares, and live in peace regardless of what you see (2 Corinthians 5:7).
