No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.
I Corinthians 10:13 NKJV
Last night in my Bible study class we ventured into the realm of real life application for one of our members. She is dealing with something that is causing her unrest in her spirit and although we discussed several things I wanted to share one particular part with you all today using our key Scripture for today as a basis.
Whenever we are going through anything that is causing strain in our lives 1 Corinthians 10:13 should be a source of comfort. Whenever temptation hits our personal worlds this Scripture should give us hope! In this context, the word
temptation refers to a trial or testing. God is saying that the trials that you are facing were not just invented for you to go through. These issues are actually common but He wants you to know that He is faithful and that this testing will not go beyond what you are able to handle, carry, or deal with in this moment. The reason that we should be safe in our capabilities to handle these heavy situations, trying ordeals, attractive vices, irritating people, places, or things all rests in God.
God is faithful not only to not put you through unbearable testing but also tells us He will make a way of escape that you may be able to endure what you are going through. If you do not go to Him with your requests, needs, concerns, and weights that come from your seasons of temptation, then you will miss out on the ways of escape that He promised to make for you.
If you have not had rest in a while, if your chest feels like there is a huge mound making it difficult for you to breathe and live peacefully, if you are vexed in your spirit, if you are tired of falling, if you feel like you are about to break into a million pieces…GO TO GOD! The Scripture says, Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28) And He means it…He is the ultimate escape! The spiritual piece that allows everything else to flow so that you witness His power in the physical! When you run to the main escape He will show you, practically, the way to deal with your situation. Whatever it may be. But you have to trust Him to do that!
Try prayer, reading your word, meditating on that word, and applying it and see where that takes you! The situation may not change but I bet you’ll have some peace in your spirit as you endure as a good soldier!
