Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.
Matthew 7:7-8 NKJV
Last week when I was reading these verses I couldn’t help but to think how the promises made in this Scripture are constantly met but God showed me why some of us, well…why I have yet to walk into many of the physical manifestations of these promise and I want to share with you.
There were three words that stuck out to me during this reading: everyone, he, and him.
For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Many of us are more than willing to ask God for provision, for Him to give us answers, for Him to show us our next move, for Him to lead us, for Him to forgive and deliver us, for Him to do all of these things for us but not everyone is willing to respond
obediently to the requests made of us after God responds. Not everyone is willing to do the work to (seek) find and (knock) get through the doors that will prove the manifestation that has already happened in the spirit realm.
If we want to see the physical manifestation of answered prayers we have to go beyond just asking. While everyone may be asking for many similar things this journey is personal! He or she =) must personally seek God and get things done whether people are there with them or not. We must seek, knock, and then do what is required when we find and when doors are opened for us to walk through. This part takes work, time, and sacrifices that many of us are not really ready to make slowing down the process and causing us to become frustrated with God for Him not moving quick enough.
You may ask God for provision and He will provide you with an opportunity but you fail to complete all the steps to get what you asked for. He may show you what your next move is but because it does not agree with your flesh you reject it and therefore His will. He may forgive and deliver you and tell you to sin no more but without thought we are back in the very thing we are asking for deliverance from. Everyone asks and all will receive but what are we going to do with what we have received? Will we move? Will we act? Will we refrain? Will we be obedient? Faith without works is dead (James 2:14-26).
It’s time for us to actually seek, knock, and walk through these doors opened by our mighty God. Many of us have asked God how to get out of what we are going through and He has shared the answers. It may involve walking away from some people, places or things. It may involve taking a huge leap of faith without knowing all of the answers or feeling prepared. It may involve having to put yourself out there in new ways even if you’re terrified. It could involve putting aside your pride and finally surrendering to the true call God has placed over your life.
Our next elevation or blessing could all be tied in what we choose to do with the information that we asked for! Are you willing to seek out the avenues God has given you to accomplish the call? Are you willing to knock and then actually have the courage to walk through the doors that open? Some of you are fearful of the pain, hurt, loneliness, uncertainty, or even success you may face by being obedient in this season. But when we begin to walk forward in obedience and the boldness from our God then the thoughts of what you may have to leave behind will become fewer and any pain you feel you may incur will subside as purpose is fulfilled. Focus on where you are going and it leaves less space to worry about what you may have to walk away from. Focus on the fact that God will be going with you and the new levels will seem less overwhelming!
The process to purpose fulfilled is necessary but worth it. Ask! But don’t forget to seek, knock, and be obedient!
