Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, Hebrews 12:1 NKJV
This morning I had a desire to work from home instead of going to my usual "be productive" space. The issue is, my workspace looks like death. Like seriously it's horrible. It's the only space in my house that I can get any work done because the living room means watch TV, the kitchen means eat several times, and my bed means go to sleep.
There is absolutely no way that I will be able to get anything done if I don't clean off my space. This space dedicated to creating. This space dedicated to studying. This space dedicated to the work God has placed on my heart.
But I've done something horrible to this God given space. I've filled it with clutter. Papers all over it, dishes from the all-nighter, unopened mail, jewelry and electronic devices, and a chair piled high with clothes that need to be in someone's drawer or closet. Just a hot mess.
Looking at the madness discourages and exhausts me but I've avoided it long enough. I have to do something about it because it's causing me to become stagnant in the very place God called me to help grow the kingdom.
My home workspace is like many of our hearts. We've filled it with the clutter of everyday life. Trials, drama, unnecessary distractions and have made it so that we can't focus on the very things that God called us to, to advance in and with the kingdom.
If you are feeling cluttered in mind, body, spirit, or even in your actually physical space it's time to start cleaning it up.
Maybe the task seems overwhelmingly huge! Well just like you would do in a large room, start with a section. Figure out what you need to do to get that back in control.
Allow your cleaning process to be just that. A process. If you want to de-clutter your mind, start capturing your thoughts and replace them with God thoughts. If you need to de-clutter your relationships pray for wisdom on how to handle that. If you wanna give up that sin keeping you from communing with God pray for the strength to finally do so and take it moment by moment. If you want to feel better in your physical body choose one healthy lifestyle change and stick with it for a while. And if your room or office looks like mine get your lazy tail up and handle it lol. It doesn't always have to be all or nothing! Sometimes it's just taking the first step!
How will you get anything done with distractions sitting on your heart, in your eyesight, or weighing on your mind? Let go of them and experience the liberty of Jesus so you may free flow in all the wonderful work He has entrusted to you on today!
