I believe that you are influential. I know that there are people that come to you for assistance with spiritual and emotional matters, and for help with daily needs. I also know that you have done a great job in helping them.
But if today, you are feeling a little resentful for it, or just a little weary in handling other people’s business while your business is being put aside at your detriment, I want to encourage you to release a little.
In Matthew 11:28-30 Jesus shares,
28 “Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon
And now I urge you to take heart, for there will be no loss of life among you, but only of the ship.
Oftentimes we are completely unaware or avoid the cracks, faults, or empty voids in our life that leave us susceptible to the attacks of the enemy. That’s why there are times we look up and wonder, “How the hell did I get here?” A majority of the time we do not become aware of these places in our hearts, minds, and in our lives until a storm rolls in and changes up everything.
Last week, there were men walking on the roof of my house. A bit random for me I must admit until I realized their purpose. The Homeowners Association sent them to do an inspection and with perfect timing because we got some pretty heavy rains last week! I mean especially for Southern California!
Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.
Matthew 7:7-8 NKJV
Last week when I was reading these verses I couldn’t help but to think how the promises made in this Scripture are constantly met but God showed me why some of us, well…why I have yet to walk into many of the physical manifestations of these promise and I want to share with you.
There were three words that stuck out to me during this reading: everyone, he, and him.
For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Many of us are more than willing to ask God for provision, for Him to give us answers, for Him to show us our next move, for Him to lead us, for Him to forgive and deliver us, for Him to do all of these things for us but not everyone is willing to respond
“Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert.
Isaiah 43:18-19 NKJV
I believe that I am one of the greatest packers of all time. Now this has nothing to do with packing lightly but I guarantee you I will have everything I need and everything I don't. I hate being unprepared. I hate getting somewhere and not having something that I need. This causes me to have 2 and 3 bags when I'm literally going 10miles away. Oh bag lady Mel, maybe you aren't the greatest packer of all time =/
This morning when I woke up the first thought was, “I need to start packing a little lighter.” Every time I go somewhere I'm weighed down with the worries of what I might need. When I leave the house with just a purse I'm anxious because what if I have downtime and can get work done or what if I need a change of clothes? Issues I know.
But God showed me that a lot of us are mentally, emotionally, and physically packing all this stuff that we don't need as we walk out the house everyday. We are packing guilt, pain, fear, and confusion and placing it on our backs causing
But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.
1 Peter 5:10 NKJV
Heartbreak, extreme debt, financial issues, loss of a loved one, loss period, bad health diagnoses, bodily harm, assaults, abuse are just a few of the things that happen in our lives that cause us to feel as though we are suffering. Pain, aching, excruciating moments whether mentally, spiritually, physically, or all three make it easy to look up and say, “God, why me? Why us? Why?”
While I believe that God doesn’t plan to harm us I do believe that He always has a plan to bring us back to a desired calm (Jeremiah 29:11). Whether it’s life’s choices (of self or others) that have brought you to this place of suffering or life challenges that you can’t explain, God has made us a promise…That after we suffer a little while He will perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle us. We serve a God that can take anything and flip it so it works for the good of all. The word says, And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28 NKJV
You child of God are purposed, God knows you love Him, and He will turn this suffering into something that will
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:8-9 NKJV
This post is for the person beating themselves up over mistakes made, over mistakes that have turned into repeated decisions, for the one feeling guilty, ashamed, and condemned.
God has a remedy for the weight that you feel and it rests in His Son, Jesus Christ. Here are a few things you need to know…
1) You aren’t alone
The reality is, in our human state we have moments where we allow our flesh to lead us. Anytime our flesh is in control we are in danger of being led away from God. But it’s not something that is only unique to you. The Bible says that all have sinned and fall[en] short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23).
In His infinite wisdom and love God prepared for this. He knew we would struggle, we would fall, that we would have moments of rebellion. Feeling that you are the only one unable to pull it together in an area in your life is false. And

Have a great day!
Martin and Miranda were together for a little over 4 years. At the 4-year mark the two engaged in another serious conversation regarding their future. Martin was very open about his feelings for Miranda including his concerns and fears. He let her know that while he wanted to be with her he didn’t know when he would be ready to marry her, if ever. He asked that she would keep the conversation between them so they could figure it out together.
This hurt Miranda to the core. She wasn’t so open about this with him, not wanting to bug, she forced a smile and nodded to him in approval. He knew something wasn’t right with her response but did not force her to share.
Although they agreed the conversation would stay between them, the emotions and insecurities Miranda felt were new and were getting the best of her. Martin’s aim was not to wreck her world.
He only wanted to be open and honest about his feelings. He asked for that conversation to stay between them, but she feared communicating with him, losing him, losing them, and even feared staying with him.
The very next morning, Miranda called her best friend to get an opinion, her mom for advice, her brother to get an understanding from a man’s point of view, her best guy friend to hear from another man’s point of view, and a co worker, just to vent.
By the time she was finished hearing all their opinions she was completely confused, not knowing whether to leave him or stay. Even when Martin spoke to her she didn’t hear him clearly. She twisted all of his words to sound like
But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
John 4:23-24 NKJV
Last night our church hosted the final night worship service of our Summer Nights Worship Series. The entire summer has been a blessing for me watching God manifest Himself in so many different ways. Last night made a lasting impact on me for several reasons but I wanted to share a little of what I shared last night with you all today. I hope it will encourage you a little or a lotta bit =)
What we have learned or been reminded of during this entire series is what worship is. Worship is simply thanking God for who He is. It’s that relational piece that focuses on who we know Him to be to us and to those that we love. We are able to use every moment of our lives to thank God for Him being a healer, protector, provider, keeper, mind regulator, fair judge, shield, and lover of our souls…We worship Him because He is able, reliable, long lasting, consistent, and a miracle worker even in the nastiest of situations. He is Sovereign and in His providential care He can do all things giving us the ability to do all things through Him.
I believe the ultimate act of worship is when we allow God to be who He says He is to us! To be exactly what we need Him to be in the very moment that we are in. The issue that we face as humans is that we think we need something
Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!
Psalms 46:10 NKJV
Too many times we are so eager to step out to make sure that our next move is safe, we are so eager to prove that the people that have come into our lives are just there to hurt us, or we are so eager to see what's coming next that we don't take the time to sit back and observe God in the moment.
Today I hear God saying, “You don't have to do my job for me… You don't have to worry about being your own security guard I've got that under control. I know you want all the answers before I give them, I know you want to see what's ahead, and what I have in store for you but right now I'm just asking you to be still, rest in my presence, and understand that I am God and I will be exalted among the nations.”
When Dad's name is on the line He is not going to fail! God is God! He desires for others to come to Him, He desires for people to know Him in His fullness. God desires for people to be drawn to the characteristic that He is faithful to
And the LORD, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed.” Deuteronomy 31:8 NKJV
One of the things I tell the young adults at the church on a consistent basis is, the present is the safest place to be.
Sometimes we are so consumed with what happened yesterday (or 30 years ago) or what might happen tomorrow that we trick ourselves out of one of the greatest promises of today. The word promises us that God will never leave or forsake us. We cannot possibly live in the past or the future therefore God will meet us where we can physically reside. Right here. Right now. We are never alone. Never abandoned. We only feel that way when we step out the sphere of the moment and begin to worry about what was or what is to come.
In this moment God can lead you, comfort you, speak direction to you, deliver you, and free you. Where the spirit of the Lord is there is liberty. So stand boldly in the freedom that is waiting for you in this very second.
I guarantee you if you can stay in this place with God depression and anxiety will decrease in your life!
Live in your now moment and watch how God will take care of everything else.
