9 If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater; for this is the witness of God which He has testified of His Son. 10 He who believes in the Son of God has the witness in himself; he who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed the testimony that God has given of His Son. 11 And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. 12 He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. 13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.
1 John 5:9-13
I was so excited by our Sunday school lesson yesterday that I wanted to share some of it with you today! So many of us are seeking out ways to enhance our physical lives, extend our lives, and even live our lives. We find ourselves spending thousands of dollars on products yearly to not be satisfied at the end of the day. How do I know we aren’t satisfied? Well, we keep spending, we keep wanting and feeling that we need more, the chase for physical satisfaction never stops. We work hard just so we can get more of the stuff that makes us feel like we are living.
We work to find life when Salvation is free and already ours! The gift was paid for by Christ at a hefty price so we
The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD, And He delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; For the LORD upholds him with His hand.
Psalms 37:23-24 NKJV
Have you ever noticed how easy it is to fall into something but when it’s time to climb out it’s like the most hellish experience ever? Like something that literally took you 4 seconds to get into can leave you spending the next 60 years fixing! This can be with anything…loving someone, becoming addicted to something, making a poor business decision, shoot making any poor life decisions.
The Bible does say obedience is better than sacrifice and I thought I learned this lesson lol but I still find myself looking back at my own life thinking, “Jesus, when will I learn to be obedient so I don’t have to deal with the challenge of climbing out of all these painful pits!?” (1 Samuel 15:22)
Family, we have got to learn to watch our steps! We are literally walking straight into pits of addiction, despair, bondage, confusion, depression, anxiety, etc and getting stuck there! The problem most of us are facing is that we are
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Jeremiah 29:11 NIV
I know our key Scripture fairly well, a lot of us do. I know that the people the prophet Jeremiah was talking to didn’t always do things that were pleasing to God yet these were still the Father’s words to His people. He promised them they would no longer be in captivity. He had a plan to prosper, a plan of hope, a plan for the future.
The other day I was busy being distracted on Facebook and came across a status by Paula White. It read, "God knew every mistake you would make & still made a good plan for your life- one to prosper you & not harm you!"
These words meant so much to me in the moment because of the guilt I was feeling over something God had already forgiven me for. Although Paula didn’t reference the Scripture I knew exactly where she got her insight and it made me excited and thankful!
Before scrolling across these words I didn't think to let this Scripture apply to me because I didn't feel worthy of it in
Then, the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them, “Peace be with you.” When He had said this, He showed them His hands and His side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.” John 20:19-23 NKJV
The disciples were in a predicament. They just lost their leader in a bloody show of evil (Jesus had just carried out His task on the cross), one of the ones they ran with hanged himself (I’m talking about Judas see Matthew 27:3-5), and the Jews were not feeling them one bit because of what they had been teaching with Jesus as their guide. Although Jesus spent a significant amount of time encouraging them before His death they still happened to find themselves shut in a room “for fear of the Jews”.
How many of us have allowed fear of what people will say, think, or do to us, if we fully walk in our callings for God, keep us shut up in a room? Many people have probably turned from walking with you in the past and feeling alone is not an uncommon thing for anyone let alone someone who has dedicated their life to serving Christ. It can be downright scary. And although God has given us a promise that He will never leave or forsake us some of us are still allowing ourselves to be shut in a room where our lights cannot shine as God has created them to.
One of the things I saw in this Scripture was that even though Jesus left, He remained! He showed up when they needed Him and He didn’t offer them money, houses, new clothes, a scholarship, or any other material thing, but He offered them His peace and He showed Himself to them. He showed them His hands and His side and then breathed on them the Holy Spirit!
Many of us are locked in a room of fear waiting for God to bless us with things or people or even a sign that we are
I don’t have anything profound to share with you EXCEPT the Scriptures that God placed on my heart to encourage me today. Scripture is really all we need! I pray that you will meditate on them, allow them to cause you to reflect on what God has done in your life, and apply them to your right now so that you can fully walk in the promises of God.
May His word free you today! May it free you from every detrimental mindset, confused situation, bound relationship, blinded path of disobedience, and hindrance keeping you from experiencing and resting in the glory of the all wise, all knowing, and loving mighty God! You deserve it! Happy Independence Day!
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away, behold, all things have become new.
2 Corinthians 5:7
For we walk by faith, not by sight.
2 Corinthians 3:17
Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

The Holy Sprit is one of the greatest gifts received by believers of Christ. It’s a teacher, counselor, advocate, corrector, and can be a huge hug when you need one. As a corrector believers will often experience conviction that helps us to know when we are heading down a wrong road or about to make (or have already made) a wrong turn.
Sometimes conviction can be a difficult pill to swallow but it is a necessary part of our Salvation package. Without it we would only set ourselves apart from God. That is the opposite of being set apart for God’s use.
Conviction works immediately and should move one to repentance. If you continue to feel extreme guilt after you have repented (or turned from sin) that is coming from you not forgiving yourself or the enemy himself.
Understand this…the cross was enough! What Jesus did to save you, to wipe your sins away, to cause God to forget about all the yuck of yesterday, to cause God to see you without blemish, to cause God to hold not one fault over your head…it was enough.
There’s nothing else you can do to become more forgiven. Forgive yourself and rest in one of the benefits of Salvation: freedom from condemnation. (Romans 8:1)
