The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD, And He delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; For the LORD upholds him with His hand. Psalms 37:23-24 NKJV
A few months ago I watched my nephew Blake take his first steps. From crawling to pulling up they were all exciting moments as we watched him gain greater independence.
We constantly said, “he'll probably be walking next month” and while his trust in tables and couches grew, he had trouble taking more than 3 steps without tumbling to the ground. After falling he'd either crawl super fast to his destination or look up to us. In these instances we would say, “Yay!” and clap for him praising him for his few steps and encouraging him. In turn he'd get hype clap his hands and continue with his baby business.
Yesterday I watched my baby walk across the living room to me to get the donut I had in hand lol. We have similar motivations :)
I was in awe to see my baby wobble over to me looking like a little Frankenstein. But I was so excited. So pleased. So proud of him.
Our first steps are always the hardest. We let go of the edge in an attempt to walk into something or away from something and two steps out the gate, boom we hit the floor. Not all of us take this news well and we sulk and fall deeper into a hindering hole. But just like we screamed yay for baby Blake and clapped our hands I believe that's what our Heavenly Father is doing for us.
One step is all it takes to move us forward. We may fall, we may feel discouraged, and we might even walk down the wrong path but God is there to pick us back up and start us out again. Don't be afraid to let him be your couch or table as you learn to navigate these new legs!
Trust in Him enough to take those first steps. You know what they are and if you don't let Him guide you as Proverbs 3:5-6 suggests.
Be patient and obedient with your process pretty soon those steps will turn into a stride that won't be stopped.
Enjoy your day! God bless!
