So I scooped him up and held him super close to my chest. When I tell you he fought it's an understatement. After a couple left hooks and smooth jabs to my face I wrapped both arms around him tightly and jokingly said, "Boy, I know you're tired you just need to rest! Rest in Jesus kid. Rest in Jesus!" and it hit me…
We fight just like infants!
He has waved a banner in front of us to let us know where He is! In that very spot we can find rest for our souls but we fight! We fight as if we aren’t tired. As if we aren’t ready to give up completely. As if He is not there with His arms outstretched saying cast your cares on me because I care about you (1 Peter 5:7)!
Rest in our faith. Rest in His love. Let Him know you are ready to stop doing His job and ready to rest in the promise that He makes in our key verse Matthew 11:28.
Take an extra 5 minutes out of your morning to pray, read an extra verse or three, or get back into church. Do whatever you have to do to get back in a place that you will rest your hands on his face, take a deep breath, and release your fight! Because He has promised you rest, you just need to receive it!
