Want to be thrown OFF course? Here are two directives guaranteed to help you accomplish this task:
1) Work hard to please others and meet their expectations.
In order to stay ON course DO NOT FOLLOW ANY DIRECTIVES LISTED ABOVE!
There is no way we can please everyone. No way! I only state the obvious because it is so easy to fall into this trap. We often look for encouragement or confirmation that we are moving in the right direction through others, especially when it is a move that makes no earthly sense (that was a plug go read that post if you missed it).
I’ve slowly learned the difference between seeking wise counsel and seeking someone I can turn into a mini god who will pat me on the back or tell me what my next move is. We have to trust that we are being led by God and be courageous in the walk. He will send encouragement and confirmation that we are on track along the way.
As you journey down this road remember you do not have to prove anything to anybody. If you have to do any proving, prove to yourself that you can take one step further than you did the day before. People are fickle and hard to please but God is pleased simply by our faith. (Hebrews 11:6) Work to improve the relationship between you and God by continually moving out in faith and trusting his spirit, which is within, to guide you.
Because Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith let’s make sure to keep our eyes stayed on him…not us
But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. (Hebrews 11:6)
Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. (Hebrews 12:2)
