22 So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. 23 For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. 24 Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.
Last week I was talking to a friend about some things that were not going right. In the moment, I was aggravated but doing my best to be patient because if I threw my laptop across the room I would deeply regret it! I encouraged myself by stating the importance of patience and waiting for God’s perfect timing and taking deep breaths. It was actually working but my friend text me back and said, “take authority over it”. I quickly text back, “you’re right!” It never occurred to me to pray about the situation. So I sat there in Starbucks and made my declarations known, in Jesus’ name. And what do you know? That thing that took me two hours of fooling with at two different locations finally decided to act right. Like literally 20 seconds and it was done.
Her words stayed with me the rest of that day and when I woke up Friday morning, “you can move mountains” was in my spirit so, I automatically went to our key verse and was encouraged more than ever! I know the devil is livid because I haven’t been able to stop walking like a giant ever since lol. When I was reminded of this authority I started calling out the big stuff and when I tell you that mess was moving?????? Ha! You can’t tell me the God we serve isn’t real and that prayer doesn’t work. So I want to share this with you! We all need a reminder of the authority we hold being God’s children.
Do you understand the authority we have been given through Christ? I mean do you really? Because if you did, if I
did, we would have way less breakdowns and we would walk around with our heads up and not cast down in defeat when things look a little rough.
The Scripture tells us to have faith in God. If we believe that He is who He says He is and that He truly has given us power through His Son and our faith, then we will have no problem speaking to our mountain situations. The Bible tells us that we have the ability to speak to these mountain situations! That they will be removed and cast into the sea! God will do it. He will handle our light-weight. =)
Let’s think about what a mountain is. This huge mass of earth where the surface has risen to a large height! This isn’t something that can just be shoveled away or bulldozed through quickly. You can’t just kick it over with steel toe boots! It’s not like a man made hill. It’s a natural rising of the earth that needs an act of God to be taken down! Well God is saying, I can act through you to move a mountain through your faith in me, to speak and see it move.
Not only will it move but it will be cast into the sea. Lol, this is not a simple push or shove. To cast means throw forcefully! Say what?! We have the power to literally throw a mountain out of our way into a sea? A sea that probably ain’t no where close to where this mountain is situated? The answer is YES! If you have faith in God and speak to the mountain like situations in your life:
He is saying that you can speak to those situations and they can be thrown into the sea, so far away from you, I’m sure you’ll barely remember them being an obstacle.
Perfecting patience is beautiful. But do not sit so passively and forget that you can pray and have these things removed from you. While everything doesn’t happen in the next moment…some do! Use your authority in Him and then make sure that you
1) do not doubt in your heart and
2) believe what you say!
Don’t be uncertain in this God that we serve. He is powerful and we can do all things through Him (Phil 4:13). There is nothing too hard for Him and there is nothing impossible for Him (Gen 18:14; Jer 32:27; Luke 18:27). The Spirit of this powerful God dwells within us giving us access to this power! We just have to call on it and use it! If you can avoid the doubt and believe in these things that you have declared over your life then guess what? Whatever you have asked for, and believed, you will receive (v24)!!! That’s word!
What are some of your mountain situations? Meditate on our key verse today and pray to remove those things and cast them in the sea. As you pray have assurance in those prayers and receive His peace! If God gives you revelation on your next move, be obedient and watch the physical manifestation of your words happen right before your eyes!
You have power child of God. Let’s start walking like it!!!
