Yesterday I encouraged you, and myself, to press! You might be thinking I don’t wanna press anymore that’s all I do, I’m over it. I figure this because there are several people who have said this to me within the last few days. Can I go on a random tangent for a second? Thanks…
Some days I love pistachios and others I don't. I don't know what goes on with my taste buds. Maybe it has something to do with how hard they are for me to get into. One day I tried to figure it out. I noticed the pistachios that were easy to open left a weird taste in my mouth—I didn't like em so I spit em out lol. Then there are some, where getting in those shells is harder than trying to hack a computer using a flat iron. (idk I needed something that seemed impossible) Anyways, if I didn't give up and throw the pistachio down before reaching for a new one, I learned new ways to crack the shell and actually liked the taste of it. This kind of research is the real deal!
So let me bring this back…A little opposition can be a great thing. It can be the difference between pride and humility or staying stagnant versus being elevated. Opposition also teaches us effective problem-solving skills that we will be able to use for the rest of our life’s journey.
Not everyone is grateful for things, people, or opportunities when they are just handed to us. We take them for granted, feel prideful and take all the credit attributing none to God or anyone else that could have helped along the way, and we are more likely to be careless or abandon the blessing without thinking twice. (Like the new age kid that loses an iPhone and says that’s ok, my mom will get me a new one tomorrow)
When we have to work against forces like the shell of a pistachio we enjoy the fruits of the labor, appreciate what we learned to acquire the blessings and/or gifts, and take way better care of them. Don’t get frustrated with opposition! It propels us forward, makes us better, and the victory tastes oh so great! So yes, you better PRESS! Enjoy your day!
“2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.” James 1:2-3
“But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were in dread of the children of Israel.”
“28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose…37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” Romans 8:28, 37
