What would you do if you had the opportunity to invite Jesus into your home? What would your focus be? Would it be to make sure that your home was fit for a king? Would it be to serve Him and make sure that He had everything He needed? Would it be to list all your complaints or to praise Him for what He had done? Would it be to sit down and listen to everything He had to say? What would you do first?
In this particular story we are introduced to Martha and her sister Mary. Jesus just came into their village and Martha willingly invited Jesus into her home. While I’m not sure what my first action would be if Jesus came into my house, Martha chose to serve but much to her detriment. While she was busy playing hostess she became distracted but her
sister Mary chose to sit at Jesus’ feet and hear what He had to say.
allow Him to pour into us! Here at His feet we have the opportunity to rest, gain insight, allow Him to speak to us regarding situations that we have been praying about and speak to us about situations we would otherwise be oblivious to. During this time at His feet we allow time for refreshing and renewing through praise and the worship of simple adoration of what our Creator has to say.
It is more than necessary that in this season we take moments of rest at Jesus’ feet, especially those of us who are constantly busy working for the church, for our households, for our jobs, for anything else vying for our attention. It is important that we rest at His feet as an act of worship so that we can gain Godly insight and wisdom of what to do and where to go in this next season and most importantly, so we can become closer to Him.
In this time of sitting at Jesus’ feet and hearing His words He has an opportunity to provide us with words of warning and instruction so that there are no great surprises that knock us off our game if storms or trials hit. These moments of silent surrender can mean the difference between you succumbing to defeat due to unpreparedness or you understanding your victorious rights and living them out in the midst of any circumstance!
In “Lil Boy, Just Rest” I asked you to come to Him all you that labor and are heavy laden, today I ask you to sit at the feet of Jesus and hear His word. Allow Him to give you everything that you're in need of for this moment and this day!
Have a blessed day!
