Tarry: to remain or stay, as in a place, to wait for; Sojourn: a temporary stay
Faith is so hard to live by because faith often involves waiting. Patience is a virtue not practiced by many.
Habakkuk 2:2-3: Then the Lord answered me and said: “Write the vision And make it plain on tablets, That he may run who reads it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry.
Over the last 6 years I have had this non-profit idea in my heart. I have written the vision several times over the years. The number of times I've tried to start this up is the number of times that I've failed. I could have given up but I
didn't. I now know I have been practicing the kind of faith that tarries.
I have read this scripture several times over the years but today verse 3 spoke to me a bit differently. You know how you understand a scripture but all of a sudden you get an understanding of the understanding lol? I wish I would’ve looked at it like this before. It would have prevented a lot of why's during my complain sessions...I mean prayers.
God was saying the vision is YET (in the time still remaining; before all is done) for an appointed (predetermined; arranged; set) time. But when it's time it will carry out its intended purposes. Though it tarries...wait for it because it will surely come!
If I would have given up on faith that this non profit can happen I wouldn't have a business partner here to help launch and really get this thing going! 6 years later! A faith that tarries brings about completion in its time!
Can you have a faith that tarries? God may give us revelations of what is to come but can you wait for it trusting that it will surely come? Not everything is meant for our right now. We must have patient faith that endures whatever lessons, seasons, trials, appointments, and disappointments may come first.
Stay committed, stay faithful, stay patient, and experience the words of the scripture "because it will surely come", come to life before your eyes.
See you tomorrow! I have a couple things I need to apply all of this to right now! ;)
