It’s a familiar scripture that we quote but find it hard to live by. Proverbs 3:5-6 gives us all the ingredients to walk into the newness and change that God has for us.
Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV)
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.
1) Trust in the Lord with all your heart
Many times we fear moving forward because it doesn’t look like things can happen. Trust in the Lord, not your circumstance, not in the people around you, not in your current resources. Don’t limit yourself by
what you see in front of you or the people that have told you no in the past. Hebrews 11:1 (NLT) Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.
2) Lean on His understanding, not ours.
Lean, rest, be comforted, remain, be calm. How? By not trying to figure everything out. Our minds can’t fathom or understand His plans. We are limited in that capacity. It’s crazy when it comes to school or work projects we take full advantage of not having to do all the thinking work. If I can get the statistics I need by going to a website instead of doing a research study on my own, I’m relieved! When some individual gets the “smart people” in their group guarantee you someone isn’t gonna pull their full weight. Yet when God tells us that He knows the plans He has for us and that all we have to do is trust Him and follow Him, we go into overdrive to complete all the research on our own. It is not necessary! Taking on work we weren’t meant to take on causes us to become uneasy, unrested, anxious, and miss important steps. If we know that God has everything under control then my God, calm down, rest, give up control!
3) Acknowledge Him
And once we do He will tell us the next move. A couple of months ago I was trying to figure out how to do something for my business. I finally let it go and said God I can’t figure it out you’re gonna have to do it. He must’ve been so excited because later that day He wrote that thang on out for me, changed the direction of it and told me everything I needed to do to make this particular program happen. Why, because I acknowledged Him, trusted Him, stopped thinking so hard, and rested on his sovereignty and He directed my path and directed the right people onto my path.
Let Him do it…
