I Stay Messing Up

Lately, I’ve been making some costly mistakes. Whether I’m losing out on money or time it has been annoying and smh (shaking my head) at myself worthy.

As I was getting dressed for the day, I had to give myself a pep talk, and I wanted to share the main points with you!

If you have made a mistake, big or small lately be encouraged and:

1) Let it go quickly.

If you need to ask God or someone else for forgiveness do that and move on. Dwelling on the mistake will only cost you more time and energy. If it’s something that feels unforgivable, I get it. I’ve been there more times than I would like to admit. Again, ask God for forgiveness and remember:

Psalm 103:12 NLT

He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west.

1 John 1:9 NLT

But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.

And then, ask God to help you forgive yourself. We all make mistakes, both big and small. That doesn’t mean we have to live our lives defined by them or stuck in the guilt, shame, and memory of them.

2) Look forward to the lesson

Some mistakes provide a healthy lesson right away. For example. In college, I was dared to eat wasabi. Me being foolish thinking it was some kind of sweet substance put a spoonful in my mouth. MISTAKE. I quickly learned don’t do that!

Other lessons may take some time but look forward to them. God is going to make you stronger, wiser, and better!

3) Lean into the blessing

This means, find the reason to praise in the midst of it. God is always working, is always good, and can always work things together for good (Romans 8:28).

Fix your focus on these three positives and move forward. Don’t lose time stuck in your mistakes. I don’t care how big or how small. God desires to hear about them, teach you about them, and move you forward in spite of them.

Happy Monday! Enjoy the rest of your week!
